On my davenport, feet on a hassock.

I just want to let Jill (since she asked) and anyone else who cares, that I don't like birds. They freak me out.
I blame my aunt Becky.

I was fine, didn't mind birds in the least, didn't give them a second thought, until one day, we went to Panama City to visit Grandma and Grandpa L., and Aunt Becky was there.
She said "hey, lets go feed these stale donuts to the seagulls; won't that be fun??

I liked animals, it sounded fun.

Yeah, I was wrong. Have you seen the movie "The Birds?"
Imagine that, but on the beach with seagulls, dive-bombing your head for a scrap of a donut!!
Very traumatic.

So, no, I don't like birds.

Lovin' your title! Sorry about the traumatic bird incident. Guess it's a good thing Jacob and Jenna didn't feed the seagulls at Lake Erie, huh?

Well, I can't blame Becky, but "The Birds" had a lot to do w/ freaking me out. I hate when people (Aunt Martha,e.g.)) have pet birds & bring them out when you're there & you have to pretend not to be petrified as they swoop around. I stay inside when the buzzards are gliding around the beach, altho' they are cool to watch where I know they can't get me.
Yes, this is a long comment, but I don't want my own blog, so I'll just add to yours. G'ma calls it a davenport, but I call it a couch. Sofa, anyone? Is there a difference, & what do you other bloggers call yours?

It was always couch to me, but now I catch myself saying sofa at times, although I do prefer couch. Maybe it's another of the Ohio/Texas word changes, like pop to soda, you guys to y'all, plaza to, well, not sure what it's changed to, but noone really says plaza here. I promise not to ever switch to "fixin to" or "house shoes" (slippers) though -I'll keep some Ohio roots! :)

... and don't forget the clothespress ... or do you keep your clothes in a closet? Mom

It is closet (never heard clothes press until I met the Davis family), couch or sofa (don't forget divan also), pop, and slippers. Then there is the argument about what to call the grassy area between your front sidewalk and the street? If you are from the Akron/Stow area it is the "devil strip". And as for the bird trauma, does Becky know she damaged you for life? Aunt Jenni
